![]() If I exit combat or find a safe spot, I switch the empty missile weapon with a fresh pack from my inventory, usually something I looted. It isn't like there is an energy bar telling you to stop shooting. Fire more missiles if anything is still left. 5 enemies on screen? Fire off a bank of missiles at each target, then switch to bank 2. This is why I can afford to be liberal with my missiles. Most people also find that they end up looting way more missiles than they need. ![]() Missiles are powerful enough that you simply don't notice the lower damage of a missile 2 levels lower. Even on a normal ship, people love to hoard missiles simply because their supply is "limited" before being restocked unlike main gun ammo which is infinite and free. People don't seem to feel like the explosives are worthy of being your primary. Making it easier to realise that these caches exist might help people explore, and let people know that they've 'mined' and system out of these caches. On that point, I quite like having to shoot lights on stations or buildings to get to caches. The upshot of this mode is that it reveals the location of hidden caches. My wish for the future is that we get a sensor type that has a alternate mode where a ship has to stop, power down engines and shields, leaving the player vulnerable. ![]() My biggest pet peeves are when I enter a system and I run into more than 5 enemies at once. Thermo gun was good, but low damage output kind of limits its' usefulness. I've not really used the blaster, flak (except for clearing mines) or the autocannon. So I'm finding that I'm constantly switching from a rail gun to gauss cannon or coil gun for the first slot and an executioner or beam laser in the second slot. My approach to combat is to look for the sniper drones, then the armor drones, and then for everything else. Since I've now got into Union (finally!) and am at level 18, I was wondering what the communities' most useful weapons are. ![]()
